Brevard, NC most Outstanding Waterfall Hike for Beginners

A Brevard, NC waterfall hike should be on your to-do list when visiting the area! This area is loaded with public lands that offers numerous waterfall hikes, mountain biking paths, as well as equestrian routes.  One of my favorite activities is hiking to a scenic waterfall or overlook.

Transylvania County, also known as Land of the Waterfalls, is home to 250 naturally occurring waterfalls.  Comprised of 381 square miles of land with a population of approximately 33,000, finding solitude is quite easy to do.  Protected land spaces are abundant.  Specifically, Pisgah National Forest consists of 88,000 acres of beauty to explore.  In addition,  Dupont, Georges, and Headwaters State Parks offer many scenic paths to roam.

Similarly, the area has no shortage of water.  In fact, Transylvania County, a temperate rainforest,  receives an average rainfall of 90+ inches per year.  Nevertheless, don’t let the rain scare you away!  The abundance of rainfall makes the area a vortex of green in the warmer months.  Likewise, the storybook lushness of the walking paths begs you to meander in her beauty.

Being a local to Brevard, NC  is quite a gift.  Oftentimes, when gazing up during my hike at a waterfall plunging to the earth beneath me,  I can’t help but feel the need to pinch myself.  Likewise, I am often asked by others, what trails I recommend when visiting this lovely area.  Without a doubt my go-to recommendation is Moore Cove Falls in Pisgah National Forest.  Continue reading to learn more about this magical beginner-friendly trail!
