Ginger Lemon Honey Tea... The History and Tradition...

The history and tradition of drinking warmed ginger lemon honey tea is found over 3000 years ago with the ancient teachings of Ayurveda.  Ayurveda originated in India and is from the Sanskrit words Ayur (life) and Veda (science or knowledge).  Interestingly, these words essentially mean “The knowledge of life.”  Furthermore, this ancient Indian medical system is based on a natural and holistic approach to health.   Thus, the practice of drinking this warm tea of ginger (which is a warming herb), lemon, and honey was meant to improve the agni (the digestive fire) and promote healthy digestion and elimination.  In many holistic practices,  great importance is placed on the efficiency of the digestive system to support overall health and wellbeing.
