Earthing and gardening… the connection…  Gardening and earthing are two topics with comparable meanings.  Gardening is a term most of us know about.  The act of cultivating or working the soil to grow plants in the form of food, herbs, or flowers.  However, earthing is a lesser known concept described as allowing our bodies to come in contact with the earth. Furthermore, practicing this will allow us to receive beneficial electrical charges that the earth releases.

The earth releases negative electrons into the soil, lakes, and other pools of water.  These negative electrons are absorbed into our bodies usually through bare feet.  Participating in this easy habit will create a more natural frequency in our bodies similar to that of the earths.  I like to think of earthing and gardening collectively.  The earth offers soil to the plants to grow and sustain their life cycle. Interesting, in the same manner we receive frequencies from the earth which allows us to grow and prosper in a balanced way.

Earthing and Gardening… and the deep connection with health and wellbeing.

“Coming back to the soil is a coming back to home.”

Most people spend the majority of their lives in shoes. However, grounding our feet into the earth is a very natural way of being.  If you were asked when was the last time you walked on the earth barefoot what would be your reply? Maybe a vacation at the coast?  A weekend at the lake?  Relaxing on a riverbank?  Can you remember how freeing it felt as a child to run barefoot in the grass as the sun was setting on a warm July night?  Clearly, I would guess that some people might not be able to recall the last time they were grounded and barefoot on bare mother earth.

Earthing and Gardening Connection and the Benefits

Earthing offers a strong connection to place and belonging. Studies have shown that earthing 30 minutes a day or longer provides many health benefits.  These benefits include reduced inflammation, improves blood flow, reduces pain and stress, and increases an overall sense of well being.  Are you ready to add a habit of earthing into your daily practice?  I encourage you to  find the connection of earthing  in your daily life.  Below are some tips on how to easily add earthing into your life and start reaping the benefits.

  • Walk on the grass or soil barefoot when the weather is nice or just rest your bare feet on the ground.
  • During cold weather earthing is still possible by touching parts of the earths crust such as rocks, soil, or water.  Trees are also a great option to touch during the cold season and offer the same benefits.
  • Ready for the whole enchilada?  During a warm fall or spring day lay your entire body upon the earth and absorb the earths frequencies for a full body reset.

Earthing takes consistency as do most healthy lifestyle habits.  Our ancestors were very aware of the cycles of the earth. Undoubtedly, earthing was part of their daily lives to maintain balance within themselves as well as with the earth. To summarize, I encourage you to practice earthing habits in your life and see the difference it may make in achieving more balance.  The connection you feel with earthing or gardening and health and happiness may surprise you!
