Recently, Hurricane Helene swept through our area in western NC, leaving a lasting impact on our community. I was incredibly fortunate – my experience was far less challenging than many others faced. However, the many emotions that a disaster of this magnitude evokes are felt collectively. While talking with folks in the community since the storm, one thing is evident, emotions are heavy and ever-changing. Personally, I have felt myself in this place of polarity dancing between grief and gratitude and everything in between. This stark reality check made me reflect deeply on the nature of hope and resilience.
